Always use UK Bank approved MICR toner cartridges
 To maintain top security and quality in the printing of MICR laser cheques it is critical that only fully APACS approved MICR toner cartridges are used with the PCF!secure laser cheque printers.
This is important for the following reasons:
- Poor quality MICR toner could result in cheques being rejected at the bank clearing centres. The banks can then charge the issuer of the cheque(s) additional fees for each rejected item to be manually cleared.
- A part of the APACS approval process consists of ‘adhesion tests’ to determine that the toner adherence is of the highest standard, and not easily removable. If an issued cheque is stolen, and then fraudulently altered to a higher amount, the banks would be within their rights to make the issuer liable for any loss if they were not conforming to APACS standards.
- APACS accreditation for the PCF!secure TROY products is for both the MICR printer and the specific PCF!secure TROY MICR toner cartridge for that printer, thus by using a non TROY MICR cartridge the cheque issuer would not be conforming to APACS standards.
- Warranty of the printer will be voided if non TROY MICR cartridges are used during the one year warranty period of a new printer.
- Annual Maintenance Support contracts can be voided if non TROY cartridges are used. If the service technician finds faults with the TROY printer and the manufacturer's cartridge is not being used, the parts to repair the printer, the labour and travel time will not be covered on the Annual Maintenance Support agreement, thus the client incurring additional costs.
