Create!form Case Study

Large Pre-print stationery users reduce print bill using PCF laser forms software

At Alfa Laval in Camberley, one of the world's leading industrial valve manufacturers, every pre-printed form - internal and external - has been replaced using Create!form document printing software from PCF.

Running an IBM AS/400 computer at its head office in Camberley and using BPCS integrated software they handle all the paperwork for the manufacturing process from order entry to sales order acknowledgement to issuing jobs to the shop floor with assembly instructions and including despatch notes, purchase orders and goods received notes. Also, all the accounts department's forms including invoices, statements, remittance advices and credit notes are produced.

All this stationery was previously processed using pre-printed continuous forms with dot matrix line printers. Now the print data is sent (unchanged) to a dedicated print server where PCF has installed the document management forms software and each form is automatically selected for print by each data file without any user decisions or effort. Multiple copies of forms are printed at different printers on the network when necessary and special forms such as 17 part SITPRO export invoices are quickly and accurately produced in the despatch department.

Crane Process Flow Technologies also uses a similar system to this at their Cwmbran offices. Terry Davies (IT Network Manager) was responsible for the installation of the system and said "we used to store vast quantities of pre-printed continuous stationery which was always going out of date and impossible to change. Now we just store plain paper and we can change details such as telephone numbers on a PC and upload it to the print server instantly. PCF redesigned all our forms and the whole system now works extremely efficiently and flexibly." Crane also uses the software to email forms as pdf file types to speed up delivery and reduce postage costs.
