Create!form Case Study

Denby Pottery - Windows NT Oracle User

Document Management Case StudyThe Denby Pottery Company is one of the most famous pottery companies, selling its premium priced stoneware crockery throughout the world. The company has seen substantial growth since a management buy-out from previous owners Colorol and its subsequent flotation in 1994. This growth, however, put a strain on the company's reliable but aging HP3000 computer system, running the proprietary MPE operating system and bespoke order processing and manufacturing systems outputting information to dot matrix printers.

Kevin Saunders commented, "The Create!form solution... was clearly the easiest to use and best suited to our needs. We were particularly impressed with the quality of support and immediate response that we received from the Create!form team".

Finding an Integrated Solution

According to Kevin Saunders, DP Manager, at Denby, "The time had come to find a fully integrated manufacturing, order processing and accounting solution that would give our customers the best possible service."

Denby has spent more than one million dollars implementing a new Windows NT network running Oracle software on Intel-based HP servers and PCs. Having taken the decision to proceed with the Oracle manufacturing and accounting system, Denby was faced with a further decision concerning how to output all the new documentation.

The company wanted to do away with the plethora of pre-printed continuous stationery and internal forms that had previously been produced on dot matrix printers and opt for a more modern system of electronic forms creation.

They considered three different solutions including Formscape and Optio DCS, but ultimately decided on Create!form..

Initially printing to two HP Mopiers, multi-purpose printer/copiers - one at Head Office and the other in the remote warehouse. These two machines, using Create!form's electronic forms software, now print the full range of invoices, statements, credit notes, delivery notes, returns notes, consignment notes, order acknowledgements and internal pick slips on plain paper, as well as cheques and remittance advices, which are the only pre-printed documents now in use.

The Create!form Difference

Kevin Saunders commented, "The Create!form solution was not the cheapest we looked at, but it was clearly the easiest to use and best suited to our needs. We were particularly impressed with the quality of support and immediate response that we received from the Create!form team. All our pre-printed stationery has now been replaced apart from the security printed cheques which are now part of a perforated remittance advice form that is printed using Create!form. All our forms now have the same look and feel and can be modified at any time. We are also able to print Bar Codes on our consignment notes, put up-to-date marketing messages on any documents and personalize letters to our customers - all from the same software."
